Adani Defence is significantly ramping up its small arms ammunition production capabilities in a move aimed at fulfilling a substantial portion of India's domestic demand and establishing itself as a key player in the global market.

The defence manufacturing arm of the Adani Group plans to double its annual output to 300 million rounds by next year, which is projected to cater to 50% of India's yearly requirement.

This expansion follows the recent commencement of production at Adani Defence's new state-of-the-art facility in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Currently, the facility is producing 150 million rounds of small caliber ammunition per year, fulfilling approximately 25% of the country's needs.

The Kanpur facility is equipped with advanced machinery and technology capable of manufacturing a wide range of small arms ammunition, including 5.56 X 45 mm, 7.62 X 51 mm, 7.62 X 39 mm, 8.6×70 / .338 Lapua Mag, and 9 X 19 mm rounds. This enables Adani Defence to supply ammunition compatible with various small arms used by the Indian Armed Forces and potentially other global defence entities.

Beyond domestic supply, Adani Defence is also actively pursuing export opportunities, leveraging its high-quality ammunition and competitive pricing to tap into the international market.

This ambitious expansion underscores Adani Defence's commitment to advancing India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing, a key goal under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. The increased production capacity not only strengthens the nation's security infrastructure but also positions Adani Defence as a major contributor to the growth of India's defence industry.
