The Archer-NG (Next Generation) is an indigenous Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) being developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), specifically its Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) laboratory. It is designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and armed combat missions for the Indian Armed Forces.

Key Features and Specifications:

The Archer-NG is a multi-role combat and surveillance UAV with a single-engine, twin-boom pusher design. It is being developed by DRDO with potential production by BEL and HAL. The UAV has an approximate all-up weight of 1,800 kg, an endurance of 24 to 29 hours (potentially up to 34 hours), and a service ceiling of 30,000 feet. It can carry a payload of up to 300-400 kg. The Archer-NG is powered by a domestically developed 177-horsepower engine for self-reliance and features modular avionics and an autonomous take-off and landing system.

Weaponization and Capabilities:

Equipped with four external hardpoints, the Archer-NG is designed to carry various weapon systems. These can include laser-guided bombs, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAAW), Astra Mk1 BVRAAMs, and loitering munitions.

Development Status:

The Archer-NG has completed high-speed taxi trials and had its maiden flight in October 2025. The program aims to improve upon previous indigenous UAV efforts. The non-weaponized version is currently undergoing certification, with trials for the weaponized variant planned in the coming years.
