Medak Ordnance Factory Conducts Successful Floatation Test of Amphibious BMP War Tank

The Ordnance Factory in Medak, Telangana, has successfully conducted floatation trials for an amphibious infantry combat vehicle (ICV) manufactured for the Indian Army. The test took place on Friday at Pedd Cheruvu, an irrigation tank near Sangareddy town.

The vehicle, a BMP war tank developed with Russian technology, is designed to operate both on land and in water. This amphibious capability provides the Indian Army with greater operational flexibility, allowing troops to traverse water obstacles and conduct operations in diverse terrains.

The Ordnance Factory in Medak is responsible for manufacturing and supplying 120 BMP vehicles annually to the Indian Army. These vehicles undergo mandatory floatation trials every year at the designated irrigation tank, adhering to strict guidelines to ensure their amphibious capabilities meet the required standards.

This successful floatation test highlights the capabilities of the Medak Ordnance Factory in producing advanced military equipment for the Indian Army.
