Recent media reports claiming the infiltration of 600 Pakistani Special Service Group (SSG) commandos into Kashmir have been dismissed as fake news.
The reports alleged the involvement of the SSG, under the command of Major General Adil Rahmani, in orchestrating attacks across Jammu and Kashmir. However, sources have confirmed that such a large-scale infiltration is highly improbable.
While the possibility of some SSG personnel being part of Border Action Teams (BAT) for targeted attacks on Indian positions cannot be entirely ruled out, these operations typically involve smaller, highly trained teams.
Former DGP Dr. S.P. Vaid's assertion about Pakistan's direct involvement in the attacks and the need for a similar response from India remains valid, especially in light of recent BAT activity in Kupwara district.
Experts suggest that while infiltration of smaller, specialized teams remains a threat, the reported large-scale troop movements are unlikely. A more nuanced approach to analyzing infiltration attempts is therefore necessary.
