JHAJJAR, INDIA – March 4, 2024 – Swedish defence major Saab yesterday celebrated a historic moment with the official inauguration of its new Carl-Gustaf® weapon system manufacturing facility in Jhajjar, Haryana, India.
The groundbreaking ceremony drew dignitaries including Håkan Jevrell, Sweden's State Secretary for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and Jan Thesleff, Sweden's Ambassador to India.
This event marks another chapter in Saab's long-standing partnership with India, a collaboration dating back to 1976. Saab's new, state-of-the-art facility is the first dedicated solely to Carl-Gustaf production outside of Sweden and was built under the 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy.
The facility will incorporate cutting-edge technologies in its manufacturing process, such as advanced carbon fiber winding techniques and the latest in sighting technology.
The primary focus will be to produce the Carl-Gustaf M4 system tailored for the needs of the Indian armed forces.
Future plans include the ability to produce components for other global customers, with exports initially to Sweden and later broadening to other markets in accordance with India's export regulations and relevant end-user agreements.
