CHENNAI: Over 32 lakh defence pensioners are set to benefit from the newly launched System for Pension Administration (Raksha) (SPARSH) System, according to Devika Raghuvanshi, IDAS, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).
The SPARSH system streamlines and enhances the pension disbursal process, which was previously managed by various public sector banks. Notably, the system has already facilitated the resolution of over 21,000 family pension cases during a dedicated grievance redressal initiative in July.
Speaking at the inauguration of a community hall and transit accommodation in Army residential quarters in Nandambakkam, Raghuvanshi highlighted the Defence Accounts Department's modern initiatives aimed at swift grievance redressal, including the establishment of a centralized processing center in Prayagraj.
Raghuvanshi engaged directly with defence pensioners and their families, listening to their concerns and assuring them of prompt resolution. As part of the event, the CGDA also distributed cheques worth a total of Rs. 30 lakh in pension arrears to various family pensioners.
The event was also attended by T Jayaseelan, IDAS, Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA) Chennai, Brigadier Gaurav Atreya, Chief Engineer of Chennai Zone, and Brigadier Karthick Ram Mohan, Commandant of Military Hospital Chennai.
The SPARSH system is a web-based platform designed to process pension claims and disburse funds directly into the bank accounts of defence pensioners without any intermediaries. The system offers pensioners a dedicated portal to access documents, raise grievances, and track service requests. It is part of the Indian government's broader digital transformation efforts in public administration.
