In the wake of escalating regional tensions and a call to action by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, top commanders of the Indian Navy will gather in the national capital for a four-day conference starting September 17th.

This crucial meeting, taking place at the new Naval Headquarters, marks the first such conference under the leadership of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the recently appointed Chief of Naval Staff.

High on the agenda will be the evolving security scenario in the region, including the recent regime change in Bangladesh and the increasing influence of extremist groups there.

The commanders are also expected to deliberate on the persistent challenge of China's growing military activities and its support to Pakistan in terms of military hardware. The potential creation of new theater commands, aimed at enhancing operational synergy, will also likely be a key point of discussion.

Admiral Tripathi has underscored the importance of maintaining a high level of operational readiness at all times. The conference will provide an opportunity for the Navy to assess its operations in the Gulf of Aden, where it has achieved significant success against piracy and drone attacks.

Additionally, the Navy's ambitious modernization plans, particularly in addressing the shortage of underwater assets like submarines, will be under review.

The recent induction of the INS Arighaat and the planned induction of the INS Aridaman in the coming months signal significant progress in the development of India's nuclear-powered submarine capabilities.

This comprehensive review by the Indian Navy's top brass reflects the nation's proactive stance in safeguarding its security interests amidst a volatile regional environment.
