Airbus C295 Hits Milestone with 300 Orders, India to Become Top Operator

The Airbus C295, a leader in the medium tactical transport aircraft category, has surpassed a major milestone with its 300th order. Kazakhstan's recent procurement of an additional C295, intended for the National Security Committee Aviation Service, contributed to this milestone. This new acquisition underscores the aircraft's enduring popularity and solidifies Airbus's position in the market.

With an impressive market share exceeding 80%, the C295 boasts a vast operational footprint. Currently, 41 operators across 37 countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia depend on the C295's proven capabilities. The fact that 19 of these operators have placed repeat orders speaks volumes about the aircraft's reliability and performance.

India has emerged as the single largest customer for the C295 with a total order of 56 units. Airbus is fulfilling this order in a phased approach. The initial 16 aircraft are being assembled at the Airbus facility in Seville, Spain. The remaining 40 will be assembled at a dedicated Final Assembly Line (FAL) constructed by Tata in Vadodara, India.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) took delivery of its first C295 in September 2023. The delivery schedule remains on track, with the second aircraft slated to arrive in May 2024. The subsequent 14 aircraft will follow at a rate of one per month until August 2025.

The establishment of the Vadodara FAL represents a significant development in India's drive for self-reliance in the defense sector. This facility will assemble the remaining 40 C295s ordered by the IAF, with the first aircraft produced in India anticipated to roll out in 2026.

The Airbus C295's extensive global presence, substantial order book, and integration into the “Make in India” initiative indicate its potential to continue leading the medium tactical transport category. This dependable and adaptable aircraft provides nations like India with the tools they need to secure a modern and well-equipped future.

Can we modify the same to land and takeoff from indian AC as early warning and control aircraft

we couldn't develop a Dornier and you are dreaming of C-295
The country cannot be run by people who want a conversion raj so people like you who always want to deny Indian talent and capability and endorse the crony capitalist while allowing for trillions of dollars of losses to Indian GDP because of devasting brain drain of world's most wanted talent that exist in India. There are four sources for India's backwardness Crony capitalism, Family ran politicians, Family ran Bureaucracy and Judicial branch, and colonial legacy education system that systematically defames Hindus and deny even Hindu number and surgery, to calculus, astronomy, which scientific evolution that is the history of Hindus with same exact similar timeline to fossil records, this on purpose kept India the most illiterate country in world for purpose that people would not source Hindu Vedas like Arya samaj and fall on conversion traps and forget dharma that continue feudal system in India and want colony and deny the achievements of Hindus they are caste imposing masters (original definition of caste the throw out like what was Hindu education done by British, and denial of Kshatriya from fighting) that thought basic morals so they could convert. If some insane Hindu is illiterate allows other religions to make stories of his culture, then obviously people like you will exist who do not even know their ancestry.

Great news for us as because of local production, we can play a role in global supply chain in the future.

Not happening. The aircraft is too large and too heavy to even take off from a CATOBAR supercarrier, let alone a STOBAR mid-sized carrier.

Nah, if the american's can land and takeoff a C-130 from an aircraft carrier, im sure we can find a way. Remember US experimented with rocket assisted takeoff's a lot. The main problem would be the usefulness of it. My dream was if we can somehow make Do-228's takeoff from our carriers.
