Army Schools and Cantonments in Jammu Division Closed Amidst Terror Threat

All schools within Army cantonments and installations across the Jammu division, including Army schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), have been temporarily closed due to credible intelligence indicating a potential terrorist attack. Additionally, the movement of Army vehicles has been restricted as a precautionary measure.

Sources reveal that the decision to implement these security measures was prompted by specific intelligence suggesting that terrorists might target Army vehicles and schools within cantonment areas. This precautionary action follows similar threats received earlier, although no restrictions were imposed at that time.

Early this morning, parents of students attending Army schools and KVs received notifications around 5 am informing them of the school closures and the transition to online classes, as directed by the school administration. The closure is expected to remain in effect until further notice.

A senior officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the order to close the schools came directly from Army authorities. The Army oversees the management of both Army schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas in the region.

This heightened security posture comes in the wake of a series of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an attack on a yatri bus in Reasi and an ambush on an Army vehicle in Machedi, Kathua, resulting in the deaths of five Army jawans. Concerns have been raised about the potential targeting of Army vehicles that transport students to these institutions.
