India and Kazakhstan took a significant step towards strengthening their defence cooperation during a Defence Industry Seminar held in Astana on January 9, 2025.
Organized by the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan, in collaboration with Kazakhstan Engineering and the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan, the event served as a platform to showcase India's growing defence capabilities and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration.
The seminar focused on promoting the potential of Indian-made weapons and defence technology, briefing Kazakhstan on the range of advanced systems and equipment developed by India.
His Excellency Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad, India's Ambassador to Kazakhstan, played a central role in the seminar, emphasizing the importance of enhancing defence ties between the two nations.
"India is committed to advancing its defence collaboration with Kazakhstan," stated Dr. Prasad, "and this seminar provides an important opportunity to showcase the range of Indian-made weapons and technologies that are available to enhance Kazakhstan's defence capabilities."
The event highlighted India's cutting-edge defence technology and its potential to meet Kazakhstan's evolving security needs. With India's growing reputation as a manufacturer of advanced defence equipment, the seminar opened doors for Kazakhstan to explore acquiring high-quality, indigenously produced weapons from India.
India has made significant strides in developing various defence platforms, including advanced artillery systems, tanks, air defence systems, and small arms. These are now being presented as viable options for international partnerships, aligning with Kazakhstan's interest in modernizing its military.
This seminar reflects India's broader strategy to increase its presence in the global defence market. By showcasing its indigenous defence capabilities and fostering partnerships with countries like Kazakhstan, India aims to strengthen its position as a key player in the international defence arena.
