BEL Becomes First Bangalore PSU to Embrace Electric Vehicle Fleet

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a leading Navratna defense public sector undertaking (PSU), has taken a significant step towards sustainable transportation by becoming the first PSU in Bangalore to incorporate electric vehicles (EVs) into its fleet.

On World Environment Day, BEL officially replaced its existing fleet of Toyota Etios diesel cars with 32 Tata Xpres-T electric cars, leased from a travel agency. These EVs will be used by senior officials, including executive directors, chief technical officers, and general managers, for their daily commute.

This initiative aligns with Bangalore's growing focus on promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions and contributes to the city's ongoing efforts to reduce air pollution. BEL's decision to switch to electric cars is expected to significantly reduce tailpipe emissions, leading to cleaner air in the city. Additionally, the EVs boast lower operational costs compared to their diesel counterparts, resulting in potential long-term savings for the company.

The transition to electric vehicles by a prominent PSU like BEL sets a positive example for other organizations in Bangalore and across India. It highlights the growing viability and benefits of electric mobility, encouraging wider adoption of EVs in both public and private sectors.
