In a major stride towards bolstering India's defense capabilities and self-reliance, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has successfully upgraded the aging THD-1955 radar system, now designated THD 2.0.

This achievement aligns with the government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative, showcasing the nation's growing prowess in defense technology.

Inaugurated by Air Marshal V Rajashekhar and Mr. Anoop Rai, the upgraded THD 2.0 radar features indigenously developed digitized receiver and transmitter sections, designed and manufactured by BEL.

This technological advancement not only revitalizes the decades-old radar system but also extends its operational lifespan by an impressive 10 to 15 years.

The modernization of the THD-1955 radar significantly enhances the Indian Air Force's surveillance capabilities, providing a more accurate and reliable picture of the airspace. Additionally, this achievement translates to substantial savings in foreign exchange for the nation.
