BEML Limited, a leading Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has secured a significant contract worth Rs. 83.51 crores to supply a 50-ton trailer to the Indian Army. This order reinforces BEML's growing role in bolstering India's defence capabilities with indigenously developed products.
The 50-ton heavy-duty trailer is specifically designed for transporting battle tanks, a critical requirement for the Indian Army's logistical operations. The trailer features 12 twin-wheels, ensuring durability and stability while navigating challenging terrains.
Engineered to be towed by the BEML HMV 8x8 vehicle, the trailer boasts a payload capacity of 50 tonnes and incorporates advanced features such as:
- Steerable turntable: Allows for 55-degree rotation in both directions, enhancing maneuverability.
- Twin-line air brake system: Provides reliable and efficient braking for enhanced safety.
- Emergency brakes and mechanically operated parking brakes: Ensure secure parking and control during loading and unloading operations.
- Efficient loading mechanism: The rear chassis frame is equipped with a combination of fixed, hinged, and loose ramps to facilitate the seamless loading of tanks.
