DRDO to Showcase India's Land, Air, and Naval Defence Technologies at Eurosatory 2024

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), India's leading defense research agency, will be participating in Eurosatory 2024, a premier global event for defense and security professionals.

The event will be held in Paris, France, from June 17 to 21, 2024. This participation highlights India's commitment to "Make in India and Make for the World" in the defense sector.

DRDO will showcase a range of its most advanced defense technologies and systems across land, air, and naval domains at Eurosatory:

Land Systems

  • Arjun Main Battle Tank Mk-1A: This indigenously developed tank enhances India's self-reliance in armored fighting vehicles. It features modern technologies for dependable performance on the battlefield.
  • Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket System (MBRS): This system offers a range of up to 38 km and can be configured with different warheads and fuzes for various missions.
  • Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP): This highly mobile 8x8 platform provides a versatile solution for diverse land-based operations with modular armor for mission-specific protection.
  • Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Daksh: This versatile equipment is designed for improvised explosive device (IED) detection, identification, and handling. It can also be used for surveying and monitoring nuclear and chemical contamination.

Air Systems

  • Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C): This powerful system provides comprehensive surveillance, communication, and electronic warfare capabilities, enabling early detection and tracking of aerial threats.
  • LCA Tejas Mk1A: This latest variant of India's indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft boasts significant advancements, including an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar for enhanced detection and tracking, improved electronic warfare suite, and advanced air-to-air refueling capabilities.
  • Astra Air-to-Air Missile (AAM): This Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile system with a 100km range and Mach 4.5 speed is designed to engage and destroy highly maneuverable supersonic aircraft in all weather conditions. Several variants are under development for specific requirements.
  • HELINA Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM): This third-generation, fire-and-forget missile system is mounted on the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and can defeat tanks with conventional and explosive reactive armor in all weather conditions.
  • AKASH Short Range Surface to Air Missile (SAM) System: This system protects vulnerable areas from air attacks by engaging multiple targets simultaneously and features built-in electronic countermeasures.

Naval Systems

  • Varunastra: This ship-launched, heavy-weight, electrically-propelled anti-submarine torpedo is designed to target quiet submarines in various water depths and countermeasure environments.
  • Low Frequency Dunking Sonar (LFDS-X): This airborne sonar system offers a significant technological leap with the development of a new deployment and retrieval winch. This will allow for deploying sensors at greater depths, enhancing detection capabilities.
DRDO's participation at Eurosatory will be an opportunity to showcase "Made in India" defence solutions to a global audience. This not only fosters international collaborations but also strengthens India's position as a reliable exporter of defence equipment.
