Germany Takes Aim at China’s Actions in Taiwan, South China Sea, and India Border Dispute

Dr. Tobias Lindner, Germany’s Minister of State for Federal Foreign Office, recently highlighted growing concerns over China’s assertive behavior and its implications for the rule-based international order. Speaking on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2024, Lindner emphasized the importance of upholding sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of peaceful dispute resolution in the face of escalating tensions.

Lindner underscored Germany’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the one and unique rule-based international order, emphasizing the special responsibility borne by United Nations members and the permanent members of the Security Council in preserving global stability and security. Against the backdrop of increasing assertiveness from China, particularly in regions such as Taiwan, the South China Sea, and along the border with India, Lindner stressed the imperative of resolving disputes peacefully and through mutual consent.

The Minister acknowledged India’s proactive stance in the face of regional challenges, including the deployment of ships in strategic waters. In a demonstration of solidarity, Germany announced the deployment of a frigate, currently en route through the Suez Canal after passing through Cyprus, to contribute to efforts aimed at protecting freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The decision to deploy the frigate underscores Germany’s commitment to upholding international norms and principles, particularly in regions where tensions run high and maritime security is paramount. By actively participating in multinational efforts to safeguard freedom of navigation, Germany reaffirms its role as a responsible stakeholder in the global maritime domain.

Lindner’s remarks also shed light on the ongoing deliberations within the German Parliament regarding the mission in the Red Sea. With confidence in securing approval for the mission, Lindner highlighted the importance of parliamentary oversight and democratic processes in shaping Germany’s foreign policy decisions.

As geopolitical tensions continue to escalate and authoritarian regimes assert their influence on the world stage, the need for collective action and principled diplomacy has never been more pressing. Germany’s commitment to protecting the rule-based international order, promoting peaceful conflict resolution, and upholding freedom of navigation reflects its steadfast dedication to global peace and security.

Instead of just talking Germany must rapidly decouple from China, if it plans to learn from the Russia-Ukraine shock...Germany has not only the money but also the industrial capacity to become a military power, but needs to shed its wokeist and WW2 cultural mindset...Germany must rearm and potentially build nuclear weapons and a delivery triad...In fact I profess that Germany, Japan, and South Korea should all militarize and build nuclear weapons...Also if Taiwan wants to survive Chinese onslaught it must also possess nuclear weapons aka Israel, North Korea and Iran (see what happened to Ukraine who gave up nuclear weapons after 1990)...Only the threat of mutual destruction is the ultimate guarantor of peace and risk of invasion from big bullies...Yes, Nazis were bad and they did horrible things but the world has changed and Germany and Europe need to wake up to the new geopolitical reality of autocracies led by China who intend to dominate the world while destroying the liberal world order...Right wing politics is seeing a revival but has a long way to go in Europe...I wish it wakes up soon.

The whole problem is that they have been feeding China lots of investment in making and supplying whatever they want or need. To actually do something about it then they should stop investing and buying Chinese made or supplied goods and they should switch all of that money to India. Their words don't achieve anything or make any difference to China who will just laugh at the statement.
