The Guided Pinaka Rocket System, an advanced artillery rocket system developed by India, is attracting significant international attention following its recent acquisition by Armenia. Major General V. Arya (Retd), Executive Director of Solar Explosives, confirmed the growing global interest in this system, highlighting its cost-effectiveness and pinpoint accuracy as key factors driving demand.

The Guided Pinaka is an upgraded version of India's indigenous multi-barrel rocket launcher, designed for extended range and precision strikes. With a range of 75 to 90 kilometers, it represents a significant improvement over its unguided predecessor. The system incorporates advanced navigation, guidance, and control technology, enabling it to engage targets at greater distances with pinpoint accuracy.

Armenia's decision to procure the Guided Pinaka underscores the growing confidence in Indian defence technology. This deal not only strengthens bilateral defense ties between the two countries but also positions India as a credible supplier of high-tech military equipment in the global market. The system's capabilities are particularly relevant for Armenia's defence strategy, given the regional security challenges it faces.

According to Maj Gen Arya, the interest in the Guided Pinaka extends beyond Armenia. Several other nations have expressed interest and are currently in various stages of negotiation or evaluation. The system's appeal lies in its cost-effectiveness compared to similar systems from other countries, coupled with its proven performance in field tests and trials.

This success story highlights India's growing prowess in developing advanced defense technologies and its ability to compete in the international arms market. The Guided Pinaka's export potential is significant, contributing to India's strategic goals of self-reliance in defense production and boosting its defense exports.

Looking ahead, the Guided Pinaka program is expected to focus on further refinements based on user feedback from countries like Armenia. Adaptations to meet specific regional requirements are also likely. As more countries express interest and place orders, India will need to scale up its production capabilities to meet the growing demand. This could involve expanding production at Solar Explosives and potentially involving other Indian defense manufacturers in the project.

The Guided Pinaka's success story is a testament to India's growing capabilities in the defense sector and its potential to become a major exporter of advanced military equipment.

Sell the Pinaka at cost.

Make all the money on the rockets.

You have a captive market.

That how the Americans and Russians do it.

Instead of telling us what we already know, it would've been better if this gentleman would've given us some information on the progress of development of his company's Maheshwarastra1 & 2 rockets with ranges of 150 & 290km.

This is good progress and a major important milestone and achievement. However we still need to carry on the research and development to increase the rockets range and maintain its accuracy along with different type of warheads.

We need to develop different type of warheads based on the different type of threats from armoured vehicles, artillery, SAM, troops, bunkers, radar etc which all need different warheads to ensure the strike is a success.

Once you start exporting, it builds confidence with other importers.. Good job all ..

Is there any specialty in those rockets? Whether the rockets are standardized ones like any other gun ammunition?

Good Article.
Well done DRDO Team. Yet another achievement. We are proud of you!
But in the article, one of the important facts - France is evaluating it, had been left out!

Talk quality which has improved. Not being cheap or cost effective which ofcource is considered . Let it remain hidden not main selling point. We dont buy cost effective foreign defence products but stratagic important products
