Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a leading Indian aerospace and defence company, has announced a significant expansion of its involvement in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) AF Mk-2 program.

The company has signed an amendment to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), solidifying its commitment to the development and operational clearance of this advanced fighter aircraft.

Under the revised MoU, HAL will take on a more comprehensive role in the LCA AF Mk-2 program, encompassing the completion of development activities and securing operational clearance during the Full Scale Engineering Development (FSED) Phase-3.

This pivotal phase of the project, valued at ₹2970.00 crore (including ₹285.00 crore in foreign exchange), signifies a major milestone in the aircraft's journey towards becoming a cornerstone of the Indian Air Force's future capabilities.

The expanded partnership between HAL and ADA leverages the complementary strengths of both organizations. HAL's extensive experience in aircraft production and integration, combined with ADA's expertise in design and development, creates a formidable synergy aimed at delivering a world-class fighter aircraft to the Indian Armed Forces.

The LCA AF Mk-2 is a highly anticipated upgrade to the existing LCA Tejas, boasting enhanced capabilities and advanced technologies. It is expected to significantly bolster India's air combat capabilities and contribute to the nation's self-reliance in defence production.
