Jammu Police have issued a high alert across the Jammu region following the disappearance of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Yasir Bhat from his home in Kulgam.

Bhat, currently out on bail, is accused of involvement in a 2019 grenade attack at a Jammu bus stand that resulted in two deaths and approximately 30 injuries.

Police have released posters with Bhat's information in various locations throughout Jammu to seek public assistance in locating him.

Bhat, who was a minor at the time of the 2019 attack, was arrested shortly after the incident but later granted bail. Authorities suspect that he may have rejoined militant ranks.

The disappearance of Bhat has raised concerns due to the recent surge in terror attacks in the Jammu region, which had experienced relative peace from 2005 to 2021.

Over the past month, there have been multiple attacks, including one on a pilgrim bus that resulted in nine deaths and 40 injuries. These attacks have been attributed to efforts by Pakistani handlers to revive terrorism in the region.

Since 2021, over 70 people, including 52 security personnel, have been killed in terror-related incidents in the Jammu region.

The security forces have launched a manhunt to locate Bhat and mitigate any potential threats posed by his disappearance.
