The Electronics Corporation of India Limited's (ECIL) latest innovation, the ECAUV 500 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), is set to significantly enhance the Indian Navy's underwater surveillance capabilities.

This advanced AUV, designed for a range of underwater tasks, offers a potent combination of endurance, depth rating, and adaptability, making it an invaluable asset for both military and scientific applications.

Boosting Underwater Surveillance

The ECAUV 500's impressive 20-hour endurance and 600-meter depth rating (scalable to 1000 meters) allows for extensive underwater surveys, mapping, and reconnaissance missions.

Its advanced navigation systems, including an Inertial Navigation System (INS) and a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), ensure precise positioning and course keeping, even in challenging underwater environments.

Versatility for Diverse Missions

The AUV's modular design allows for customization with various sensors and instruments, such as sonar systems, cameras, and environmental sensors, tailoring it to specific mission requirements.

This adaptability, coupled with its ease of deployment and recovery, makes the ECAUV 500 suitable for a wide range of operations, from coastal surveillance to deep-sea exploration.

Key Capabilities

  • Depth Rating: Operates up to 600 meters, with potential for 1000 meters
  • Endurance: 20 hours of continuous operation at 4 knots
  • Navigation: Precise positioning with INS and DVL
  • Propulsion: Single thruster with vertical and horizontal fins for maneuverability
  • Power Source: Reliable lithium-ion battery
  • Sensor Suite: Customizable with sonar, cameras, and environmental sensors
The ECAUV 500's capabilities can significantly bolster the Indian Navy's underwater surveillance efforts. Its long endurance and deep-sea capabilities enable extended missions in areas previously inaccessible or requiring frequent vehicle swaps.

The AUV's adaptability to carry various sensors also provides the Navy with greater flexibility in gathering intelligence and conducting underwater operations.

I didnt know the electronics corporation of india was still active. This dinosaur needs to go extinct. It was promising but a fire caused massive damage. It could not recover after that

Add explosives to it..

We need boat drones and underwater drones.. Asap..

Ukraine destroying Russian navy in black sea just by using boat drones Magura...

Wikipedia says recently they earned revenues worth 1300 crores and net profit of 52 crore.

India has designed and developed a very useful device which has a very broad use. We should definitely use more of these to gather intelligence, surveillance, search for natural resources, EW/ESM and even converted into a tiny torpedo if necessary. We need to install these underwater drones on every naval ship and submarine as they can quickly cover more ground at sea than ships can.

450mm means can also be launched from torpedo tubes.good such systems are the future of naval doctrine similar to Swarm drones in land warfare.

This figure is from 2015, They earn because they get contract as a compulsion not due to their excellence.
