In a significant step towards bolstering its indigenous capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is actively working to integrate a wide range of 16-18 weapon systems, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), onto its Sukhoi-30MKI fighter fleet.

At the heart of this endeavor is the IAF's Software Development Institute (SDI), which is instrumental in ensuring the seamless integration of these new weapons with the aircraft's existing systems.

The SDI's primary responsibility lies in establishing effective communication between the Sukhoi-30MKI's onboard sensors, including the Mission Computer (MC), and the newly developed weaponry.

This complex integration process is vital to ensure the successful operation and deployment of these indigenous systems during combat scenarios.

One of the highlights of this ongoing integration effort is the inclusion of the 'Gaurav,' a formidable 1,000 kg class glide bomb capable of striking targets at extended ranges.

The IAF's SDI has played a key role in programming the Gaurav into the Sukhoi-30MKI's systems, guaranteeing compatibility and operational effectiveness.

Once successfully integrated, these new weapon systems will significantly augment the Sukhoi-30MKI’s combat capabilities, enabling it to engage targets with greater precision and at longer ranges.

Good developments same should b applied for Rafale /Rafale M ,Mirage-2000 Romeo & MQ Reaper

This is good news that we are making progress on our own indigenous weapons from missiles to bombs but we can only achieve the best jet if we implement the Super Sukhoi program and overhaul it with new technology and sensors etc.

We need to make additional 120+ upgraded Super SU-30 powered by AL-41 engines capable to carry 10-11 ton weapon load for bomber role like Su-34 !

The SDI of the Air Force is certainly doing a stellar job with the weapon and sensory integrations, doing it at a much much lower cost and so much faster than even the DPSUs/DRDO. This shows that anything and anyone will be better than relying exclusively on DRDO.
