The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore and the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) have forged a strategic partnership to drive innovation in defence technology.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two institutions, focusing on collaborative research and development in critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security, Signal Processing, and VLSI Technology.

This collaboration seeks to leverage IIT Indore's academic expertise and ARTRAC's practical military experience to address real-world challenges faced by the Indian Army.

The joint efforts will involve developing field-relevant solutions for Military Problem Definition Statements (PDS), facilitating exchange programs for faculty and students, and creating joint training modules and capsule courses tailored to both military and academic needs.

The partnership will grant the Army access to IIT Indore's cutting-edge infrastructure and labs for advanced prototyping and research. This access will enable the development and testing of innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.

Lt Gen K H Gawas, Commandant of the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), which represents ARTRAC, highlighted the significance of aligning academic innovations with the demands of modern warfare.

He emphasized that this initiative will bolster the Indian Army's preparedness for technology-driven battlefields and contribute to the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" vision of self-reliance in defence technologies.

Professor Suhas S. Joshi, Director of IIT Indore, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it presents a valuable opportunity for the academic community to engage with real-world military challenges. This engagement will enrich research outcomes and ensure the development of impactful solutions for national defence.

Commander Sunil Kumar (Retd), Public Relations Officer of IIT Indore, explained the collaborative process, stating that IIT Indore will address problem statements from MCTE and develop solutions based on their inputs and feedback.

This partnership between IIT Indore and ARTRAC marks a significant step towards strengthening India's defence capabilities through collaborative research and development. By combining academic expertise with practical military knowledge, the initiative aims to foster innovation and self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
