India Deploys Two New Regiments of Pinaka Multi Launch Rocket System along LAC

New Delhi, India – The Indian Army is significantly enhancing its artillery capabilities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China by deploying two new regiments equipped with the indigenously developed Pinaka Multi Launch Rocket System (MLRS). This move signals a heightened focus on strengthening border defences amidst ongoing tensions.

Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Pinaka MLRS is a potent long-range weapon system known for its rapid and accurate delivery of firepower. The deployment of these regiments will bolster the Indian Army's ability to strike targets deep within enemy territory should the need arise.

Although the original plan was to raise these regiments by 2024, a shift towards accelerated deployment is underway. Sources confirm that the process is ongoing and the regiments are expected to be fully operational within the next 6-9 months. This expedited timeline underscores India's commitment to bolstering its defences along the disputed border.

The addition of these Pinaka regiments is a strategic move in light of the ongoing border standoff in Eastern Ladakh. These highly mobile rocket launchers will join the four Pinaka regiments already deployed along India's western and northern frontiers, creating a formidable deterrent.

In military terms, a regiment is an artillery unit comprising multiple batteries. Each Pinaka regiment boasts three batteries with six launchers each. This enables a coordinated launch of 72 rockets within 44 seconds, capable of neutralizing enemy positions within a 1000m x 800m area. Additionally, the upgraded Pinaka system features extended-range ammunition with a reach of 75 kilometers and enhanced precision targeting.

The deployment of these Pinaka regiments is a testament to India's growing self-reliance in defence technology. The Pinaka MLRS, a product of DRDO's research and development efforts, marks a major milestone in India's domestic arms production capabilities.

Best is the enemy of good. 75 or 100 km range multi barrel rockets are bested by 300km range Chinese rockets.

When are we testing the desi HIMARs offered by Solar Industries - Maheshwarastra 1&2 - with ranges of 150km & 300km max?

Chinese has 150km, 250km range rockets, even Pakistan is getting these long range rockets from them.
And here India has only 75km range. Pinka rcokets were developed long back , but Indian army didn't visualize the scenario when enemy will field 250 km range rockets . Once Chinese started doing this ,and also pass on to Pakistan , then Indian army took notice. Now Indian army is talking about long range rocket forces .
As usual we are doing catch up.

We require atkeast 100 lauching pads to be kept near the border.after pinaka there should be suffort of astra and agni long range missles can reach 1000 km china land.we remember single soldier fought with 303 riffle for 72 withhelp of sola and Nora. Now our jawan are equipped with guns that can fire 72000 bullets per minute.

How can a 75 km rocket be bested by 300 kms one? It is not one to one target to say that. IA will be at a range disadvantage but do not under estimate pinaka, since it is an offensive weapon. You go near 100 kms of the target pinaka is deadly & unlike the cheenks, Indian soldiers are better with high morale to boot.

The point to be noted is: India is on the work; it is quick; it is by DRDO, indigenous; today it is 100 or 75 km, soon it is going to be 500 and 1000 km - we already have technology and better technology aka Brahmos. Many comments here by India-haters with psudo-Indian names. The bottom line is: India is rising ... and soon surpass China ... because India has best talent and India has best leadership. This is enough. India is on the work.

The longer the range; these unguided rockets become inaccurate. HIMARS has additional missile type guidance system.

300Km is literally ballistic missiles range almost. Our Pranash and Pralays are specifically designed to meet tbag range. For MLRS 100-150 KM is enough
