In a significant development strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, the Chief of Air Staff of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, has offered Bangladesh assistance in maintaining its fleet of MiG-29SE fighter jets.
The offer comes as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict disrupts supply chains for spare parts vital to Bangladesh's Russian-origin aircraft.
The Bangladesh Biman Bahini (Bangladesh Air Force) currently operates eight MiG-29SE fighter jets. These aircraft underwent life extensions in Belarus in 2021; however, they have received limited upgrades in recent decades.
