A delegation from the US Army successfully concluded its three-day visit to the Indian Army School of Artillery in Deolali, Nashik, from August 20-22, 2024.
The visit marked the 26th meeting of the India-USA Executive Steering Group (ESG), a platform established to foster enhanced institutional linkages and the exchange of best practices between the two nations' armies.
During the visit, the US Army delegation engaged with various faculties and training facilities at the School of Artillery, gaining insights into the Indian Army's artillery training methodology and infrastructure.
A highlight of the visit was the live firing demonstrations, where the Indian Army showcased some of its cutting-edge artillery assets, including the K-9 Vajra self-propelled howitzer, the Dhanush towed gun, and the Swathi Weapons Locating Radar. These demonstrations provided a valuable opportunity for the US delegation to observe firsthand the capabilities of the Indian Army's artillery arm.
The ESG meeting, held in conjunction with the visit, facilitated constructive discussions on a wide range of topics aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of artillery.
The deliberations focused on exploring avenues to enhance institutional linkages, share experiences and lessons learned, and promote collaborative training initiatives.
Both sides expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting and emphasized the importance of sustained engagement to capitalize on the existing strong foundation of military ties between the two nations.
