In preparation for the bicentenary celebration of the Regiment of Artillery in 2026, the Indian Army successfully completed a challenging white-water rafting expedition in Uttarakhand. The expedition, which spanned 300 kilometers along the Mandakini, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, and Ganges rivers, began on May 25th and concluded on June 5th.
The 23-member team, comprised of officers, junior commissioned officers, and other ranks, was led by Lieutenant Colonel BN Jha. They embarked on this journey to foster motivation, camaraderie, and a spirit of adventure among the serving personnel.
"The journey commenced from Rudraprayag and culminated at the Veer Bhadra Barrage in Rishikesh," an Indian Army official stated. The expedition not only tested the team's resilience against challenging rapids and breathtaking landscapes but also underscored the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to excellence and teamwork.
The Regiment of Artillery, established on September 28, 1926, boasts a distinguished history adorned with numerous honors, including the Victoria Cross, Ashok Chakra, and Maha Vir Chakras. It has also produced exceptional sportsmen who have been recognized with Padma Shri, Arjuna Awards, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
