India's New Hypersonic Missile Launches Like a Ballistic Missile and Then Transitions to Cruise Mode: Former DRDO Chief

India's recent successful test of a long-range hypersonic missile has been hailed as a groundbreaking achievement by Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Adviser to Raksha Mantri and former Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Dr. Reddy revealed that this missile represents a unique hybrid design, combining features of both ballistic and cruise missiles, a capability unmatched by any other country in the world.

Speaking at a defence event, Dr. Reddy emphasized that this new missile is not a conventional hypersonic cruise missile. Instead, it is launched like a ballistic missile, achieving high speed and altitude, and then transitions to cruise mode, allowing for maneuverability and sustained flight. "This missile is launched like a ballistic missile and then transitions to cruise mode. No one in the world has it," he stated.

This innovative dual-mode capability provides significant strategic advantages. It combines the speed and altitude of a ballistic missile with the maneuverability and extended range of a cruise missile, making it extremely difficult to intercept and significantly enhancing its ability to evade enemy defenses.

Hypersonic weapons, with their unmatched speed, precision, and adaptability, are at the forefront of modern military technology. India's successful test of this advanced system places it among an elite group of nations pursuing hypersonic capabilities. However, the unique hybrid design of India's new missile puts it ahead of global peers in this specific technological domain.

Its time now to make thousands of tactical nukes !
Sir! We don't need nukes or for that matter missiles too provided the nation stands in unison. But we have dynasties who rose from nothing to power by crooked methods and by seeking help from foreign powers waiting to topple the nation for their own nefarious selfish interests. People are fooled by bringing in nefarious regional, linguistic and caste that makes people to vote for them. So we need adequate no of weapons as a deterrent or even for offense when the neighbouring scoundrel countries raise their ugly head with the intention of destroying our country

Lmao China has already operationalised it years ago.
they have only HGV, infact their Bots were very confused with number of fins of Indian hypersonic missile saying it cant be Hypersonic as russian chinese ones looks same & w/o Fins. Reality is the kind of control Indian Hypersonic missile has due to these fins , its not present in chinese & russian HGVs. tough Speed of chinese & russian maybe higher

Meanwhile Chinese tested a boron-powered hypersonic weapon system that can operate in both air and water.

Yes. we can also extend this hybrid nature into more dimensional or more levels of hybridness.
We can a torbedo launched from a mobile (like missile launcher) which will drop into water. it will traverse within water for half a kilometer or so and then it will crew into sky from water. and then detaches outerbox. Now inner one, is a missile, which will activate and move like a ballastic missile for one kilometer and then converts to hypersonic and moves a distance before hitting.

we can also further extend, the hypersonic, will first slowdown3 to ne3ar zedro v3elocity3 and then will drop3 another torpedo whcih is rpesent inside the missil3e, 3which will traverse abou3t 10 kilometers or so before hitting a body present either on the water surface or inside water.

India did first with Agni 2 missileAgni 2 missile. India just lacks pr of China. India achievements lack hype.

"The re-entry vehicle uses its manoeuvring fins to porpoise the warhead, to avoid missile defenses while manoeuvring to its target, employing a terminal guidance radar operating in the C- and S-bands." Bharat Rakshak.

That's MaRV, a different thing. They can do some twists and turns, yes, but they have very limited gliding capability because of their general shaping and small fins.

HGVs are a different ballgame because they never leave the atmosphere. They keep gliding up and down inside the atmosphere which makes them so hard to intercept. Even the USN is forced to develop a specialised variant of the Standard Missile to intercept such threats.

India is not interested in PR. Meanwhile China's PR has backfired on them. They challenged the emperor without sufficient backing and now they are paying the price. We are quietly building up our strength. India is interested in real capability & for real purpose, China is interested in putting on a show to convince their Zhangs. If we start beating our drums the West will turn their full focus on us. There are benefits to maintaining low profile.

I bet the range is atleast 5000Km. We are downplaying it. It should be able to take down Chinese carriers in South China Sea, in their home base.

Yesssssss, do two more sessions of tests at different environments. On achieving similar results, must start aggressive production of these missiles. At least 1200-1500 of such missiles should be stockpiled in our arsenal.

It is a convenient way to ignore challenges to satisfy our ego feelings
lol. they are claiming hypersonic underwater. Its a stupid design - hypersonic is itself an uninterceptable missile. they want to submerge it - the speed at which it is going will shatter the missile. the more speed you go, water becomes as hard as concrete. even speedboats flipping over will shatter into two. and fkin wuma0s here want to jkoff to that stupid "missile" and want us to jkoff along with them. no thanks.

this ofcourse is a blatant lie, along the likes of "5nm hand made wires made by master chinese craftsmen". it simply violates the basic principles of physics.
