Tehran, Iran – Iran's military has concluded its recent operations against Israel but issued a stark warning to the United States. Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Sardar Bagheri, declared that US bases would be targeted if Washington supports any Israeli retaliatory actions.
Bagheri justified the strikes, stating, "Israel's actions in the consulate were condemned so a response should have been given." He emphasized that while the operation is over, Iranian forces remain on high alert.
The recent attacks by Iran were confirmed as retaliation for an Israeli strike on April 1st that targeted an Iranian consulate in Damascus. Israel has not claimed responsibility for the Damascus strike, which Iran alleges killed several officials, including Revolutionary Guards commander Mohammed Reza Zahedi.
In the aftermath, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Hossein Salami announced a "new equation" where Iran would immediately retaliate against any Israeli aggression targeting its interests or citizens.
"The Honest Promise operation is a prominent and very clear example of this new equation," Salami declared.
The exchange of strikes and subsequent warnings dramatically increase tensions in the already volatile Middle East. The potential involvement of the United States further complicates the situation and raises the specter of a wider conflict.
