Keltron Secures ₹97 Crore Contract from Indian Navy for Defence Electronics

The Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron), a leading public sector undertaking, has secured a significant order worth ₹97 crore from the Indian Navy. The contract entails the manufacturing of various defense electronics equipment essential for underwater operations, bolstering the Navy's capabilities in maritime security.

The production will be undertaken at three Keltron facilities: the Keltron Equipment Complex in Karakulam, Keltron Controls in Aroor, and Keltron Electro Ceramics Limited, a subsidiary company. This collaboration demonstrates Keltron's expertise in delivering cutting-edge technology for national defense.

Industries Minister P. Rajeeve emphasized that Keltron's consistent excellence in manufacturing has earned the trust of the Indian Navy, leading to repeat orders for strategic equipment. A key component of this latest order is Keltron's proprietary low-frequency processing modules for sonar arrays, critical for the detection and identification of submarines and ships. After rigorous testing and quality assurance of Keltron's prototypes, the Navy has placed an order for two processing modules.

These advanced modules significantly enhance the range at which targets can be detected, providing a crucial advantage in underwater surveillance. In addition, Keltron will manufacture other vital electronic devices, including echo sounders for measuring sea depth, electromagnetic logs for calculating ship speed, data distribution units, and power amplifiers for sonar systems on anti-submarine shallow watercraft.

This substantial contract reinforces Keltron's position as a reliable provider of high-quality defense electronics and underscores its commitment to supporting India's national security objectives.
