Mahindra Group and Sentrycs Ltd. have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing and deploying advanced anti-drone solutions within India.
This collaboration, formalized through a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focuses on both civilian and military applications, highlighting the growing importance of countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across various sectors.
The partnership will leverage Sentrycs' radio frequency-based counter-drone technology and Mahindra's expertise in defense and aerospace to create a "Made in India" solution. The system envisioned is an autonomous and integrated platform capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and mitigating drone threats.
One of the standout features of this system is its ability to differentiate between friendly and hostile drones. By monitoring flight paths, identifying specific models, and even recognizing unique serial numbers, the system can precisely classify threats. If a drone is deemed hostile, the system can autonomously take control and safely land it in a designated zone, minimizing collateral damage.
This "differentiated anti-drone solution" has applications in safeguarding critical infrastructure within urban areas and serving as a component of a broader multi-layered anti-drone defense system for military purposes.
Mr. Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra's Aerospace & Defence Sector, expressed pride in contributing to India's protection and emphasized the alignment with the "Make in India" initiative.
Mr. Yoav Zaltzman, CEO of Sentrycs, highlighted the growing threat of drones in military conflicts and expressed confidence in the partnership's ability to create a leading counter-drone solution for the Indian market.
