Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for a novel procedure for finally aligning the Propeller Shaft on a Destroyer Class Vessel in Dry Dock.

This innovation is crucial for the proper functioning and performance of naval vessels, particularly Destroyer Class vessels. The patented procedure, developed by a dedicated team of engineers, expedites the alignment process and ensures high precision, contributing to the overall effectiveness of Dry Dock activities.

The patent demonstrates MDL's commitment to excellence and ingenuity.

Need to check if any other foreign ship builders have this technique before issuing patent, otherwise foreign ship builders might sue them, wish MDL files a patent for innovative, cutting edge, state of the art submarine building technology, with the knowledge they learned so much from DCNS, they already build hundred’s of submarines for Indian Navy and exporting hundred more for foreign Navies world wide 😭.

If foreign ship builder has anything then the court will examine who did and when? Not sure that foreign companies ever succeeded.

Ok that's great but they have to utilise the technology properly by sharing its usage with all of our other shipbuilders if they have figured out a quick and easy method of alignment.

That is a great achievement by all means and surely helps India to embark on becoming a solid submarine propulsion builder as it is very critical to reduce the noise in the system.
Way to go!!!

More likely patenting the technology would result in stealing of it. Rest, I agree, but no need to patent.
