NASHIK, India – The Indian Army reopened its newly renovated artillery museum at the Artillery Centre on Nashik Road on July 1st, commemorating the birth anniversary of the late General Paramasiva Prabhakar Kumaramangalam, a former Chief of Army Staff.

The museum, which underwent extensive modernization, now offers visitors a deeper understanding of the Indian Army's rich history and valor. As Lt. General Adosh Kumar stated, "This museum is not just a repository of artifacts, but also a living testament of courage and commitment of our gunners."

Among the museum's highlights is a 3D movie on the 1999 Kargil War, providing an immersive experience that showcases the challenges and resilience of the armed forces. The main foyer displays stories of bravery, including the legendary tales of Umrao Singh, a Victoria Cross recipient in World War I, and the Tangail airdrop during the Bangladesh liberation.

Visitors can also explore separate galleries dedicated to the stories of sacrifice and courage from major conflicts, spanning from World War I to the Kargil War.

General Kumaramangalam, who laid the foundation stone of the museum in 1968, played a pivotal role in its establishment. The recent renovations incorporated modern preservation methods and visitor engagement while aligning with 'Go Green' sustainability initiatives.

The reopening ceremony was attended by Subarayan Behram and Parvati, the son and daughter of the late General Kumaramangalam, along with other dignitaries.

The museum is expected to become a premier destination for tourists visiting Nashik, offering a unique insight into India's military heritage.
