Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, commandant of the National Defence Academy (NDA), emphasized the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies in armament for the Indian Navy to achieve a higher degree of indigenization. He made these remarks while addressing the valedictory function of the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), where he was the chief guest.

The event marked the graduation of 15 Indian Navy officers who successfully completed the Naval Technical Staff Course (NTSC), an ab initio course designed for Naval Armament Inspection Cadre (NAIC) officers.

Vice Admiral Singh felicitated the graduating officers and presented awards to meritorious students. Lieutenant Sriponmalar P and Lieutenant Priya Nandal received awards for securing the first and second positions in merit, respectively.

Lieutenant Neelam Rana was recognized as the best all-rounder, while Lieutenant Sakshi Solanki and Lieutenant Mohammad Arif Khan were awarded for the best dissertation.

Additionally, Lieutenant Jasmine was acknowledged for her exceptional contributions to various MILIT activities.

The focus on indigenization aligns with the Indian government's broader push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing. This initiative aims to reduce the country's dependence on foreign suppliers and bolster domestic capabilities in critical areas such as armament development and production.

Vice Admiral Singh's call for the adoption of cutting-edge technologies further highlights the importance of innovation and technological advancement in achieving this goal. By embracing modern technologies, the Indian Navy can enhance its capabilities, improve efficiency, and reduce costs in the long run.

The graduation of 15 NAIC officers from the NTSC course is a significant milestone in this endeavor. These officers will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the Indian Navy's armament systems, thereby contributing to the overall strengthening of the country's defence capabilities.
