Pakistan Introduces HAIDER Tank, Locally Produced Variant of Chinese VT-4

Pakistan has unveiled its indigenously developed "HAIDER" main battle tank (MBT) in a ceremony attended by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir.

Developed by Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), the HAIDER is a licensed variant of the Chinese VT-4 MBT, built with collaboration from China's NORINCO.

Domestic Production and Technology

The HAIDER project represents a significant step for Pakistan's defense manufacturing capabilities. The tank incorporates advancements in technology, with reported improvements in firepower, protection, and battlefield mobility.

General Munir visited HIT, receiving briefings on the HAIDER tank's technical specifications and the status of Pakistan's domestic arms production capacity. He acknowledged the progress made in these areas and highlighted the HAIDER's importance within Pakistan's defense objectives.

Background and Context

The Pakistan Army operates the Chinese VT-4 MBT, acquired directly from China. The development of the HAIDER appears to be a strategic move following previous challenges with the Al-Khalid II MBT program.

The Al-Khalid, based on the Chinese Type 90-II tank, had limited production. Challenges with obtaining key components from Ukraine contributed to restricting further development.

Observations

The HAIDER tank's introduction demonstrates Pakistan's focus on strengthening its defense capabilities through domestic development alongside collaboration with China.

The project's long-term success will depend on Pakistan's ability to localize the production of essential components and subsystems.

At least PA is making the most out of the meagre resources at its disposal.

Lol, future targets for prachand to destroy. Also, using israeli UCAVs to destroy these would be extra nice, since pakis hate israel more than India lol

A new coat of paint with Pakistani army insignia and small changes in crew seating position doesn't require huge money.

For that they need to place orders from Dhruvastra and HELINA and operationalise them from Prachand and Rudra, ASAP!

And here our Indian army want a flying FMBT, and timeline is in another 20-30 years for FMBT.
Indian armed forces are worst defense planners in the world , just thinking if Pakistan get our defense budget then what they will do , they will capture Kashmir in no time.
Pakistan is doing much better in defense related matters with their limited resources.

Them Pakis are doing it, and we are talking & talking & importing from this, that & nobody.

So what's the big deal ?
No big deal at all... but we are discussing it after article printed in India Defence. We give importance to non issues.. They have what they want & in timely manner.. not 6-10 years thinking program.. we need to do things in time.

77 years and we still have Pakistani fanboys on Indian Defence blogs. This was the ".5" front in 2.5 front war.

I hope these run without diesel, last time I heard one Pakistani general telling that they don't have fuel to run these. Anyways for a client state of China you can expect fast delivery of defence equipment in exchange for something thats not revealed in public.

Indian army should do a blitzkrieg on POK and see the power of Haider in war.If the Pakistanis feel that they are powerful enough, surely, they will try another Grand Slam, like in 1965 ,in Kashmir again.
