Amidst escalating tensions, Pakistan has initiated a dual strategy along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir, combining offensive cross-border terrorism with the construction of defensive fortifications.

Intelligence reports indicate a significant mobilization of trained terrorists along various launchpads across the LOC. This surge, typical of the summer season as mountain passes become accessible, poses a heightened threat to security forces and civilians in the region. Notable developments include:
  • Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT): Two groups poised at Dhakki and Rattapani, targeting the Macchal sector.
  • Mixed Terrorist Groups: Stationed at Tatrinote and Mandol, with plans to attack security personnel and minorities in Poonch.
  • Jaish-e-Mohammed: Three operatives positioned opposite Naushera, tasked with assaults on village defense guards and suicide attacks in Nagrota.
  • The Resistance Front (TRF): A newly emerged group with a presence at Kathiala and Shaktigarh, signaling an evolving threat landscape.
Simultaneously, the Pakistan army is constructing an extensive ditch-cum-bundh (DCB) in the 30 Corps area, responsible for much of Punjab province. This 1,950-meter-long anti-tank defence, situated near Dera Baba Nanak, is nearing completion and raises concerns about Pakistan's intentions.

Pakistan has a long-standing pattern of using cross-border terrorism as a tool of state policy against India. The emergence of new groups like the TRF adds complexity to the situation, requiring increased vigilance.

The construction of defensive fortifications, like the DCB, suggests a long-term strategic approach to maintaining control and limiting India's options in the event of conflict.

While Indian security forces are on high alert and have vowed to counter any cross-border aggression. The government is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take all necessary measures to safeguard national security.
