Following a recent surge in terrorist activities in the Jammu region, particularly the Doda attack resulting in the martyrdom of an Army officer and three personnel, security forces are significantly increasing their presence in the hilly areas of Doda, Poonch, and Rajouri districts.

Strategic Deployment to Counter Terrorism

High-level sources reveal that this move involves a substantial deployment of troops, vehicles, and weaponry across over 50 strategically identified locations within these districts.

This multi-force approach aims to establish a well-coordinated security grid, tightening control over the terrain and effectively addressing the evolving nature of terrorist threats.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police will lead and coordinate these efforts, with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) contributing the largest number of ground troops.

The deployment will also include the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and, in border areas, the Border Security Force (BSF). The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) may also be involved, leveraging their expertise in mountainous regions.

Reinforced Collaboration and Technological Advancements

While specific force allocations are yet to be finalized, all deployed forces are expected to collaborate closely, ensuring rapid reinforcement and streamlined operations.

Alongside increased troop presence, the government is emphasizing technological enhancements and specialized training for hilly terrain operations. The CRPF, for instance, is actively training in mountain warfare and exploring the use of AI-enabled UAVs for enhanced surveillance and operational capabilities.

Mountain Warfare Training and High-Tech Drones

The shift in terrorist tactics from urban centers to the challenging terrain of forests and higher altitudes has prompted the CRPF to gear up for "mountain warfare."

This specialized training aims to equip security forces with the skills and tactics necessary to effectively combat terrorists in these challenging environments.

Additionally, the CRPF is testing advanced UAVs that leverage artificial intelligence to minimize human intervention, conduct surveillance and reconnaissance, and execute operations autonomously.

Cautious Optimism and Long-Term Goals

As security forces begin their deployments, there is cautious optimism that this comprehensive approach will achieve its intended objectives, contributing to lasting peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

The government's focus on both conventional security measures and technological advancements underscores its commitment to adapting to evolving threats and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
