SSS Defence, a Bengaluru-based firearms manufacturer, has announced the development of a new indigenous submachine gun (SMG) chambered in 9×19mm. Designed specifically for the Indian armed forces and law enforcement agencies, the SMG is currently undergoing rigorous internal trials to evaluate its performance and suitability for close-quarter combat (CQB) scenarios.

This new firearm represents a significant advancement for India's small arms industry, aligning with the nation's push for self-reliance in defense production. The SMG is tailored for CQB situations, where maneuverability, compact design, and a high rate of fire are critical. The choice of 9×19mm caliber reflects its widespread use globally, known for its manageable recoil, stopping power, and versatility.

SSS Defence is conducting intensive trials to ensure the weapon meets the demanding requirements of military and police operations. These trials assess the SMG's performance under various conditions, including temperature variations, dirt, and sustained firing. Early reports indicate that the weapon has demonstrated impressive accuracy and reliability, with minimal stoppages even under stressful conditions.

The company has emphasized the use of modern materials and design techniques to achieve a balance between durability and ease of maintenance. This focus is crucial for weapons deployed in harsh environments and diverse operational scenarios.

By developing this indigenous SMG, SSS Defence aims to provide Indian security forces with a reliable and effective alternative to imported small arms. If successful in trials, the SMG could play a vital role in enhancing the capabilities of Indian soldiers and law enforcement personnel in close-quarter combat situations.

I really feel sorry for SSS.. We are trying to kill our own small arm industry... reading abt Sig S's manufacturing proposal in India is really sickening & disgusting

Don't make only for indian army. Make things for the world market. If you take it outside india, you will survive and flourish.

Well the fact that parties like SSS not getting any serious orders from the establishment only proves how hollow their claims of atmanirbharta and nationalism is.

India must all local manufacturers of small arms to come up with their own products for Indian Armed forces by itself or with collaboration with foreign OEMs with joint design and developments, not screw driving and welding job ones.

Encourage every single company and use their products in real war settings and offer feedback to improve them.
Only then India becomes self-sufficient.

These guys couldn't even get test weapons to military assessment in time. Then went and cried on TV. One thing is for sure, they aren't getting any army orders.

These SSS and all are untested concepts. You can't expect any armed force in world to buy them and risk their soldiers. This forum is full of un successful Cds and NDA wannabes But try keep ur personal jealousy out of this and think rationally

Bro one simple question. In which major tender has SSS participated so far and won?

Which major tender has participated in and won? Any tender from which they were kept out? Or you want us to buy from them without any requirement and even when they fail the trials?

They are already getting army orders. But they haven’t yet participated in any major tender. So that’s their fault.

Mate nobody stopped SSS from participating in the military tenders. So how is it the government fault?

Also explain how Atmanirbharta and nationalism is fake and just a slogan for the B J P? They have made the most amount of effort and the most amount of success in cutting down on foreign expensive imports, spares, parts and major platforms. Also developing complex weapons and technology takes time but we are doing it at a very fast rate with the private sector.

It’s great if they have developed a 100% indigenous gun that’s manufactured using Indian content only and it meets the military standards and specifications.

This time they should actually participate in the military tenders to get a chance of winning the contract. In the previous tenders they didn’t do that so it’s pointless to complain of not receiving any orders.

ASMI has already been accepted by the Army and its a very good product. They should make 5.56mm carbines needed by the Army.
