HANOI, Vietnam – July 24, 2024 – Vietnam has reaffirmed its commitment to a strong and comprehensive strategic partnership with India, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between the two nations. These sentiments were expressed by Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), during a reception for a delegation from the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship (ISCUF) on July 23rd.
The ISCUF delegation, led by Kagitala Raja Sekhar, General Secretary of ISCUF of Andhra Pradesh state, is visiting Vietnam to strengthen cooperative ties between VUFO, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association, Vietnamese localities, and ISCUF.
During the reception, President Son commended ISCUF's significant contributions to fostering friendly relations and cultural exchange between Vietnam and India. He highlighted Vietnam's unwavering commitment to a foreign policy of independence, peace, cooperation, and development, with a focus on being a reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.
Son emphasized the enduring friendship between the Vietnamese and Indian people, recalling the support and solidarity provided by Indian leaders and citizens during Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and ongoing development. VUFO and the Vietnam-India Friendship Association expressed their readiness to collaborate with Indian partners, including ISCUF, to organize activities that further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
On behalf of the delegation, Sekhar expressed condolences for the passing of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He highlighted the strong bond between the two countries, built upon shared values, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation.
Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2017, ISCUF has actively engaged in cultural exchange, sending delegations to Vietnam and promoting the country through publications and media outreach.
The strategic partnership between Vietnam and India has seen significant growth in recent years, encompassing various areas such as defence, trade, and cultural exchange. Both countries are actively working towards a comprehensive and enduring partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests.
