Assam Rifles Director General Visits Nepal, Focuses on Veteran Welfare

The Director General of India's Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair, recently visited Nepal for an outreach program dedicated to retired Assam Rifles personnel and their families residing in Nepal. The visit aimed to recognize the contributions of veterans and address ongoing welfare concerns.

Throughout the visit, three ex-servicemen rallies were held in Pokhara, Dharan, and Kathmandu, honoring Assam Rifles veterans and Veer Naris (war widows). The rallies, with Lt Gen Nair in attendance, provided a forum for veterans to interact with officials and discuss issues surrounding their well-being.

A key event was the meeting between Lt. Gen Nair and General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Nepal Army Chief. They discussed strategies for enhancing welfare and support systems for Nepali ex-servicemen from the Assam Rifles. This dialogue is expected to further deepen the bond between India and Nepal's armed forces.

The visit highlighted the deep connections between the countries, with approximately 15,000 Assam Rifles pensioners and their families living in Nepal. Lt. Gen Nair also met with Naveen Srivastava, India's Ambassador to Nepal, further emphasizing the importance of continued support for veterans in the region.

The Director General of the Assam Rifles' visit to Nepal underscored the strong ties between the nations and India's dedication to ensuring the welfare of ex-servicemen who served in the Assam Rifles.
