India and Mozambique are intensifying their defense cooperation, as demonstrated by the recent India-Mozambique Defence Industry Interaction event held in Maputo. Mozambique's Defense Minister, Cristovao Chume, was the guest of honor at the event, which provided a platform for Indian defense companies to showcase their products and capabilities to Mozambican officials.

Among the prominent participants was Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a leading Indian defense electronics firm. The company attracted the attention of the Mozambican Defense Minister and Mr. Anurag Bajpai, India's Additional Secretary (Defense Production). BEL executives showcased the company's diverse range of products and solutions for Mozambique's consideration.

The Indian Ministry of Defence, represented by Mr. Bajpai, highlighted India's impressive strides in defense production. Approximately 20 Indian companies, both public and private, were present to showcase their expertise in areas such as defense hardware, security systems, cyber security, communication, drones, and other advanced technologies.

The India-Mozambique Defence Industrial Interaction led to productive discussions and numerous meetings between businesses and government representatives. This paves the way for increased cooperation in defense and security between the two countries.

India and Mozambique have a history of positive relations, including collaborations during previous challenges like Cyclone Idai in 2019. India has provided military equipment and training to Mozambique, enhancing their defense preparedness. This recent event underscores India's commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, particularly those with significant coastlines along the Indian Ocean.
