Adani Defence to Incorporate Indian-Made Systems in Drishti-6 UAV

Building upon the success of securing a significant order for its Drishti-10 MALE UAV from the Indian Navy, Adani Defence is now looking to boost indigenous content within its Drishti-6 tactical UAV program.

The Drishti-6, a medium-sized UAV capable of carrying multiple payloads, is based on the Elbit Systems Hermes 450. Adani Defence has been integrated into the Hermes 450's global supply chain since 2016, gaining valuable knowledge and expertise in UAV manufacturing.

Sources close to the program have revealed that Adani Defence aims to integrate locally produced systems into the Drishti-6. This strategic move supports the Indian government's "Make in India" initiative, fostering a self-reliant domestic defence industry.

To further demonstrate the Drishti-6's capabilities, Adani Defence may offer the UAV to the Indian Army and Air Force for evaluation. This no-cost, no-commitment trial could open doors to future orders from these branches of the Indian Armed Forces.

The Drishti-6's entry comes as the DRDO continues to develop its own Archer tactical UAV. While the Archer has faced performance challenges, DRDO's recent unveiling of a weaponized variant indicates its commitment to addressing user requirements.

Drishti-6: Key Specifications

  • Endurance: Exceeds 20 hours of uninterrupted flight.
  • Payload Capacity: Up to 180 kg, supporting various mission profiles.
  • Operational Ceiling: Reaches altitudes of 18,000 ft for optimal performance across diverse terrains.

Strategic Implications

Adani Defence's focus on indigenous content within the Drishti-6 program underscores India's growing emphasis on domestic defence manufacturing.

This shift aims to reduce reliance on foreign imports while bolstering India's technological capabilities and creating jobs within the defence sector.

Since DRDO MALE program failed IAF had to fallback on a less qualified MALE drone for next few years

Definitely foreign maal screw-driven and branded in India as Atmarabitam requirements.
Surely Adani and Israel can't fool anyone at all.

No foreign maals anymore.

Just brandishing red hot iron against the fannies and denial of retirement benefits of DRDO and ADA personnel would do wonders for quickest path to successes.

India isn't going to buy more Israeli drones despite having it made in India by a private company. India have just made 10 emergency procurements between the entire military but that's it. Most of the drones have been exported to other countries including Israel itself but they will not be ordered in large numbers.

The military are focusing and developing the Archer NG which will allow us to use a variety of new technology, modern equipment and use our indigenous weapons. This will be a proper armed drone which will allow us to use a lot of the indigenous technology that we developed on the TAPAS drone which will cut down on the development time by a lot. We can use it to carry out surveillance, tracking, ELINT, SATCOM, SIGINT, EW, ESM, laser designator, single engine, SPJ, EO/IR, night vision, thermal vision etc etc. India now has to focus on manufacturing the drone as quick as possible and as cheap as possible and they should ask the private sector who can do that.

Don't worry as India only bought 10 drones under emergency procurement only for all three services but no more orders will be placed by our military as they are focusing on developing the armed Archer NG which does more than just surveillance and we need more armed drones to hit targets across the border or by crossing the border to hit a target on a risky mission.

India are falling back on the armed Archer NG which will meet all of the military requirements and it won't take long to develop as they will use a lot of the technology they developed on the TAPAS drone which only failed in achieving its high altitude but passed all of the other technology and equipment.

Tapas has performed better then Hermes in comparative trials. It is just brochures only.

Recent testing done has clearly indicated better performance by Tapas compared to Hermes in Indian conditions. Imports are good in brochuritis.

one Hermes 900 was shot by less sophisticated terrorist Hezbollah just yesterday.
Any drone can be shot down. Do you think that the Tapas cant be shot down? The whole purpose of UAVs is to achieve ISR or combat objectives without risking the lives of soldiers.

Tapas crashed in user trials and couldnt meet altitude requirements carrying a full payload. How did it perform better? Liar.

Due you compare Tapas against Hermes 900.

There was comparative trials carried out by our forces to compare Hermes performance against Tapas. Hermes could only muster 15 hours in Indian condition against 18 hrs by tapas. For full details u can check alpha defense you tube for the same.
