Agra, India – The Indian Air Force (IAF) marked a significant milestone on Thursday with the induction of its first C-295 medium transport aircraft at the Air Force Station in Agra. This new addition to the IAF's fleet promises to bolster the Central Air Command's operational capabilities and enhance its response to various challenges.
The induction ceremony was a grand affair, featuring a fly-past with the C-295 escorted by two Su-30 fighter jets. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command, presided over the event, which was also attended by numerous civil and military dignitaries. As the C-295 taxied into its new home, it was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute, symbolizing the IAF's warm welcome to this advanced aircraft.
The IAF has highlighted the C-295's versatility and its potential to transform air operations in the region. With the increasing reliance on airpower to achieve military objectives, the C-295's capabilities are well-aligned with the Central Air Command's evolving needs.
Defence officials emphasized the aircraft's strengths, including its long range, impressive payload capacity, and adaptability to diverse roles. The C-295 also boasts advanced self-protection features and modern onboard equipment, making it well-suited for operations along India's northern borders.
Beyond its tactical transport role, the C-295 will significantly enhance the training of para commandos and special forces. The aircraft will allow these elite units to practice deployments in realistic scenarios, preparing them for various contingencies, including cross-border threats and rapid domestic response situations.
The induction ceremony concluded with the patriotic slogan "Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam" (Every Deed in the Name of the Nation), followed by an exchange of mementos and a commemorative group photograph.
This acquisition represents a major step in the modernization of the Indian Air Force. The C-295 is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the IAF's operational readiness and its ability to address a wide range of security challenges.
