In response to a recent escalation of terrorist activity in the Jammu region, the Indian Army has deployed 37 additional Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) across all ten districts.

This move aims to bolster security and ensure a rapid response to terrorist incidents, preventing the escape of perpetrators as has been seen in previous attacks.

The decision comes in the wake of five terror attacks over the past month, affecting the districts of Reasi, Doda, Kathua, and Rajouri. The most recent attack, on July 8th, resulted in the tragic deaths of five soldiers when their convoy was ambushed in Badnota village, Kathua district.

The surge in violence, particularly in areas below the Pir Panjal range, has raised significant concerns among security establishments. Sources indicate that the newly deployed QRTs are strategically positioned and consist of highly trained soldiers skilled in warfare and rapid response tactics.

"These QRTs will also participate in specific anti-terror operations," sources revealed, emphasizing that in recent years, terrorists have often managed to escape after launching ambushes and inflicting casualties on troops.

The swift action of these specialized teams is considered crucial for trapping and eliminating terrorists on the spot, thereby enhancing the region's security and response capabilities.

Intelligence suggests that foreign terrorists operating in the forested and mountainous terrain of Jammu are highly trained and equipped with sophisticated weaponry, including M4 rifles typically used by US forces. Security agencies suspect that some of these terrorists may be retired Pakistani soldiers.

"These terrorists, trained in the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan, carry out sudden attacks on security forces and then vanish into the rugged terrain, which poses little challenge to them," sources added.

The deployment of these QRTs represents a significant step in the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism in the region. It is hoped that their presence will deter further attacks and provide a swifter, more effective response to any future incidents.

The deployment of these additional QRTs is part of a broader strategy to enhance security in the Jammu region. The teams will be equipped with advanced technology and intelligence to track and neutralize terrorist threats.

The government has also emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating terrorism. Local residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
