Brazilian Military Eyes Indian Radars, Anti-Drone Systems

Strengthening the growing bond in defense cooperation, a Brazilian military delegation led by Brig. Gen. Marcelo Rocha Lima, Head of the Brazilian Army Project Office (EPEx), is visiting India to assess ongoing defense projects and explore strategic collaboration.

The delegation's visit highlights Brazil's interest in bolstering its defense capabilities by partnering with India.

A key area of focus has been Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). BEL's expertise in defense electronics, specifically in communications and cyber systems, aligns with Brazil's interest in radars, electronic warfare systems (EWs), and anti-drone jammers.

The potential procurement of Indian-made defense equipment reflects a mutual recognition of capabilities and signals a deeper strategic exchange. This technology exchange aims to enhance defense capabilities and foster stronger bilateral ties between the two nations.

Further, discussions between Brazil and India have explored the repair and maintenance of Scorpène-class submarines. This underscores the shared maritime interests of the nations and their focus on enhancing naval prowess.

In a significant development, Brazil indicated its willingness to explore opportunities for wider defense collaboration through the offer of its C-390M Transporter aircraft to India. This move further solidifies the potential for strong defense trade ties between the two countries.

The Brazilian suggestion of a possible barter-type deal in the acquisition of the C-390M Transporter showcases pragmatism and highlights the mutual commitment to finding advantageous trade solutions. This deepening partnership offers a promising future for defense cooperation between India and Brazil.

Barter type deal for C390 and pinaka+radars+akash etc will be a great option. Win win for both.

We used to do barter deals with Soviet union. Buy military equipment from them and give them rice/raw materials. We didnt have much dollars back then, so we gave them whatever we could, makes me so ashamed.

yes good idea, was going to say that.

Brazilians are notorious for asking complete ToT. For Gripen they have had over 100 engineers working at SAAB's offices since last few years.
Something unfortunately our DefMin doesn't do

India certainly has a lot to offer but Brazil has secure borders, no drug cartels, no external threats and has no urgent need to start buying so many new and advanced defence products and weapons from us.

Brazil has a lot of time to decide on what to buy but they hardly have any money either. All of their Air Force flies with very old tiny trainer jets that can barely fly with a bomb or missiles, very old and very small naval ships and a army that wouldn't last a week against a well trained attack. So India shouldn't expect any major orders or deal except for maybe some small purchases at best.

Brazil is superpower of south america. That is why, even though it does not have any enemies or conflicts, it maintains a decent military budget. They do import a lot of that stuff.

If they can get a better deal from India, then it is win win for both

Why ashamed? Bharat suffered cause of colonialism and i think u will be proud now to live in the 5th largest economy...

I am proud of the india of today. I am ashamed because the repeated socialist govts after our independence reduced India to such a state that we had to give rice, when our people were already starving, to buy weapons.
