The trial of four Indian nationals accused of murdering Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada has been adjourned for the fourth time, now scheduled to resume on October 1st. The case has significantly strained relations between Canada and India.

The adjournment was granted due to the extensive disclosure process, with the defense having received 10,000 pages of evidence and expecting a similar volume in the coming week. The Crown prosecutor indicated that the disclosure process could take several more months.

All four defendants—Amandeep Singh, Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh, and another Karanpreet Singh—appeared virtually before the Surrey court. They are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the killing of Nijjar, who was shot outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara on June 18, 2023.

The delay in the trial has frustrated supporters of Nijjar, who gathered outside the court waving Khalistani flags. Moninder Singh, spokesperson for the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council, acknowledged the frustration while emphasizing the importance of adhering to the Canadian judicial process.
