India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a fifth-generation stealth fighter, is on track for development trials completion by 2034 and induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF) by 2035, according to the DRDO Chief. This announcement marks a significant step forward for India's indigenous defence capabilities.
The AMCA will place India among an elite group of nations capable of designing and manufacturing advanced stealth aircraft. "The development of AMCA is not just about creating a stealth aircraft but about achieving a significant leap in indigenously developed aerospace technologies," stated the DRDO Chief.
The AMCA's design emphasizes stealth, agility, and advanced sensor fusion, enabling it to operate in contested airspaces. It will feature advanced engines, internal weapon bays, and network-centric warfare capabilities.
Despite challenges like developing a suitable indigenous engine and the complexities of stealth technology, the program has progressed through collaborations and R&D investments.
The AMCA's induction will significantly enhance India's deterrence capabilities and regional air superiority.
The AMCA project represents a collaborative effort between the DRDO, IAF, and private industry. Its success will showcase India's technological advancement and boost confidence in its defence manufacturing ecosystem, marking a landmark achievement in India's aerospace history.
