Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), a subsidiary of Solar Industries India Limited (SII), has won a major contract to supply India's Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) with 30,000 advanced Multi-Mode Hand Grenades (MMHG).
EEL secured the contract, valued at ₹13.983 crore, with a winning bid of ₹4,661 per grenade, outperforming competitor Munitions India Limited (MIL).
Versatile and Effective Weapon
Developed by the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), the MMHG is a highly versatile weapon optimized for both offensive and defensive combat scenarios. Its unique design allows soldiers to easily convert between modes. They can add or remove a fragmenting sleeve to change the grenade's function before throwing.
The MMHG's modular construction, consisting of a fuse and a main body, allows for quick and safe priming. Crucially, it also enables easy un-priming without sacrificing the weapon's effectiveness.
Continued Success for EEL
This substantial contract reinforces EEL's growing reputation as a leading provider of cutting-edge military equipment within India. It follows a previous contract awarded by the Ministry of Defence in October 2020.Under that agreement, EEL will supply 1 million modern hand grenades to the Indian Army and Air Force. Deliveries are scheduled over two years beginning in March 2021, when bulk production clearance was granted.
