France Submits Final Offer for 26 Rafale-M Jets as India Secured Price Reduction After Intense Negotiations

France has presented its final price offer to India for the procurement of 26 Rafale-Marine (Rafale-M) fighter jets, just before Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's visit to Paris. This development signals significant progress in the ongoing negotiations for a deal crucial to bolstering the Indian Navy's maritime capabilities.

Defence sources have confirmed that the final offer, which includes a substantial price reduction, follows intensive negotiations between the two nations. The Rafale-M jets are intended for deployment on India's first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, and various naval bases.

Last week, a French delegation visited New Delhi to finalize discussions with Indian authorities. The deal is expected to be a key topic of discussion during the upcoming India-France Strategic Dialogue, where NSA Doval will meet with his French counterparts.

India has sought to customize the Rafale-M to meet its specific requirements. Notably, deviations from the original tender document, or Letter of Request, have been approved to accommodate the integration of India's indigenous Uttam radar system. This move is expected to save time and money compared to relying on French technology.

Furthermore, India has requested the integration of domestically developed weapons, such as the Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles and the Rudram anti-radiation missiles.

The final price reportedly takes into account agreed-upon inflation rates and is based on the previous deal for 36 Rafale fighter jets acquired by the Indian Air Force. The naval deal also incorporates some of the Indian Air Force's requirements, including approximately 40 drop tanks and a limited number of workstations for the aircraft.

As part of the agreement, India is set to receive a larger quantity of Meteor long-range air-to-air missiles and anti-ship weaponry. A final agreement is anticipated before the end of the current fiscal year.

what is Final Price for 26 Rafale M ........................??? Significant Reduction ...............???

All the posters here surely going to get sticker shock and fall out of their chairs, for sure.

We do not even know yet if we are getting F3R or F4.1.
If it is F3R version, then India has to pay again something like Mirage-2000 upgrade prices to upgrade.

But India is in between a rock and a hard place so it should bite the bullet for sake of defense of motherland.
And all the armament manufacturers knows about these facts about India.

Integrate Uttam with it now. You will save lot of money in integration of desi weapons. Otherwise for every war you'll have to buy costly weapons from France and wait till they produce it.

MoD had aksed for 50,000 crores or some $233 millions usd per Rafale-M jet total ops costs... Dassault was aksing around 253+ millions usd per jet... Anyways, I saw you tube Defense Matrix that Dassault is confident to get 200 nos. orders in MRFA tender!!!!!!

Uttam is nowhere in sight for next 5 years at least! Don't waste time and funds and just buy off da shelf fully ready RafaleM jets...

Now you got it right, and it was what I was writing for a decade or so.

Now they put up a MRO shop and even wants to MRO our Mirage-2000Is.
For what purpose did we pay them $2.5 to 3.0 billions to upgrade Mirage-2000s at HAL?
We paid between $45 to 60 millions to overhaul, upgrade, integrate and test them, and we paid for even machines, tools, and test equipment too.

If Dassault want to do even Mirage-2000I MRO, then what did HAL LEARN and will do in future?

Armament manufacturers will every last dollar through Indian noses.

This cost is before the cost for Navy specific MODS.

YES. Rafale-M is just F3R standard and same Base Price as IAF 1st deal of 36 jets Plus, inflationary costs are added now to come to 255 millions usd per Rafale-M jet. So, Rafale F4.2 will NOT be less than 280 millions usd very easily; for direct purchases from France!! Could even come to $300 millions per unit jet if IAF aksed for Uttam GaN AESA radar integrations!!!!
