A recent surge in terror attacks in Jammu has raised concerns among security agencies, with intelligence sources suggesting that a "fresh batch of terrorists" who infiltrated the region in the last six months could be responsible.
The group, primarily comprising recruits from Pakistan's Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions, is believed to be associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit.
This alarming development comes in the wake of a series of deadly attacks in Jammu, including the recent killing of four Army personnel in a fierce gunfight in Doda district. This incident marked the third major terror attack in Jammu in three weeks and the seventh since the new NDA government assumed office.
Previous attacks include the ambush in Kathua district that claimed the lives of five army personnel, the attack on a security post in Rajouri district, and the tragic bus attack in Reasi district that resulted in nine deaths and numerous injuries.
While different groups, including the 'People’s Anti-Fascist Front' and the 'Kashmir Tigers', have claimed responsibility for these attacks, intelligence agencies believe that they are both fronts for JeM.
The terrorists involved are reportedly highly trained and motivated, possibly including former Pakistan Army soldiers and individuals with battle experience in Afghanistan.
The precision of the attacks, along with the use of advanced technology like body cameras, suggests the presence of seasoned fighters, potentially from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, who have fought alongside the Taliban.
