The Indian Air Force's Software Development Institute (SDI) and the PES College of Engineering in Mandya have formalized a partnership aimed at promoting research and development in the field of engineering. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday, outlining a five-year collaborative effort.
This partnership will enable final-year engineering students from PES College to engage in internship-based projects at SDI, gaining practical experience and contributing to real-world problem-solving. Additionally, tailored training programs will be developed to equip IAF personnel with the latest skills and knowledge, enhancing their operational capabilities.
The collaboration will also focus on developing new products and processes to address emerging technological needs and challenges. SDI, a premier research and development facility for the IAF, plays a crucial role in advancing software technologies and supporting the operational needs of the Air Force.
Air Vice Marshal KN Santosh, Commandant of SDI, highlighted the intent to provide interns with valuable avionics software experience through hands-on projects, facilitating their transition into high-demand job roles. KS Vijay Anand, president of People's Education Trust, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to enrich the academic environment at PES College.
This partnership reflects the IAF's commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening ties with academia. By working together, SDI and PES College of Engineering aim to contribute to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative and the IAF's Vision 2047.
