An Indian Army contingent has departed for the 5th edition of "Exercise DUSTLIK," a joint military exercise with Uzbekistan. The exercise will take place in Termez, Uzbekistan, from April 15th to 28th, 2024, focusing on military cooperation and combined operations in challenging terrain.
Exercise DUSTLIK is an annual event held alternately between India and Uzbekistan, with the previous edition taking place in Pithoragarh, India. The Indian contingent includes 60 personnel, with 45 from the Indian Army's JAT Regiment and 15 from the Indian Air Force. They will join approximately 100 Uzbekistani military personnel from the Southern Operational Command.
The exercise aims to improve military cooperation and hone skills for joint operations in both mountainous and semi-urban environments. Participants will engage in joint planning, physical training, tactical drills, and specialized weapons skills. Specific drills will include establishing command posts, securing landing sites, special operations, search operations, and demolition tactics.
This year's DUSTLIK includes greater complexity, aiming for multi-domain operations. Support personnel from combat support arms and services, as well as two women officers from the Indian Army, will participate.
Conclusion: Exercise DUSTLIK underscores the commitment of India and Uzbekistan to enhance their military partnership. The exercise provides opportunities to share tactics, develop interoperability, and strengthen bonds between the two nations' soldiers, furthering defense cooperation and fostering strong bilateral relations.
